Founded in 1988 by Ronald Horvath, Qunity (formerly Horvath Associates) has been a leading civil engineering firm for over three decades, serving the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries. Today, Qunity’s managing partners bring more than 75 years of combined experience in site development design, permitting, and construction administration—but this legacy didn’t happen overnight.
The story of Qunity began with hard work, persistence, and vision. After serving as a designer and partner at an architectural and engineering firm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Ronald Horvath set out to build something of his own just up the road in Durham. To Ronald and his family, Durham was more than a location—it was a community that reflected their values and offered the promise of growth. Both he and his wife came from blue-collar backgrounds, and Durham felt like home.
Starting from a modest setup in his home, with the support of his wife and one draftsperson, Ronald quickly built a strong client base. Within a year, he moved into his first office. As the firm expanded, so did its space—culminating in the construction of its current office in 1998. Growth brought change, and in 1999, new partners joined the firm. Ronald retired in 2015, passing the torch to his partners, who continue to uphold the philosophy he championed from the beginning: meet client needs with professionalism, skill, and timeliness, and treat employees like family.
Now celebrating 35 years in business, Qunity continues to grow while staying true to the values that shaped its foundation.
