Nathan McHenry is a Civil Designer II and permit specialist with over 43 years of experience in municipal engineering, utility maintenance, and construction management. His expertise spans project bidding, utility structure design, and supervision of large-scale public works. He oversees how our projects relate to municipal permitting (utlities) or NCDOT permitting (encroachments)as well as developing estimates for utility costs. He retired from the City of Durham after 30 years, where he served as Engineering Services Supervisor and Assistant Superintendent of Water and Sewer Maintenance, overseeing a team of more than 125 employees. Nathan played a key role in utility improvement processes, including petitions, extensions, and street acceptances, and helped develop the City’s Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Study program. Before his public sector career, he worked in the private sector developing underground utility inspection programs. Nathan is also a U.S. Air Force veteran with four years of active-duty service.
