Qunity is proud to play a role in shaping a North Carolina that reflects the rich diversity of its people and communities. Our work is rooted in a deep respect for cultural history—especially here in Durham, a city defined by the legacies and contributions of Black leaders, visionaries, and communities.
As part of our commitment to honoring that history, we partnered with the City of Durham on the expansion of Beechwood Cemetery, a site of profound significance. Established in 1924, Beechwood was the first City-owned cemetery dedicated to serving Durham’s Black residents and remains the resting place of many of North Carolina’s most influential African American figures.
Our scope of work included clearing the southwestern wooded area, installing curb, gutter, and pavement, and constructing a bridge over a stream to create approximately 390 new burial plots. We also implemented landscape improvements throughout the grounds, ensuring that this sacred space continues to honor the legacies of those who shaped North Carolina’s history.
This project stands as a testament to the importance of preserving heritage while creating space for future generations—a reflection of Qunity’s values of inclusion, intentionality, and respect.
